From modest beginnings in 1979, Teutech (taken from 'teutonic', meaning Germanic) was founded by Mr. Tony Steer.
By the mid-1980's the company had grown to 50 employees and expanded to two plants manufacturing one-third automotive, one-third commercial and one-third U.S. Government components. In 1997, Teutech had 80 people working in these two locations.
In 2008, Teutech acquired another 100,000 square feet manufacturing facility and related equipment in Emporium, Pennsylvania.
With business growth, the company acquired another 165, 000 square feet facility at Guelph for the automotive business.
Effective March 1, 2017, Teutech automotive has been acquired by The Hi-Tech Gears Limited, an automotive company based in India providing global OEMs and Tier 1 customers Automotive Powertrain Solutions for their global platforms. Today, Teutech employs over 238 people at its two manufacturing facilities in Guelph and
